Generous Associates Campaign: Our Promise, Our Pledge

The annual Generous Associates Campaign of Legal Aid is a fundraising campaign run by associates at Washington, DC law firms city wide. Although contributors to the campaign are comprised of associates, partners, non-lawyers, and the firms themselves, it is a campaign that allows the true generosity of the associates in our community to come through in spectacular fashion. The Generous Associates Campaign allows Legal Aid to continue to provide free legal services to the neediest members of the DC community in the areas of family/domestic violence, housing, public benefits and consumer law.

The 2012 Generous Associates Campaign was the most successful in the Campaign’s 23-year history, raising a record-shattering $901,000.  More than 135 law firm associates at 64 firms coordinated this effort on behalf of Legal Aid.  Their dedication and hard work enabled us to substantially exceed our ambitious goal of raising $800,000 in honor of Legal Aid’s 80th Anniversary.  This year’s success was also made possible with the support of Honorary Chair, Patricia Millett, who inspired others with her enthusiasm for Legal Aid and her commitment to making justice real for those in need in D.C.  Legal Aid will use the funds raised to further its efforts to make justice real, in individual and systemic ways, for persons living in poverty in D.C
